Welcome to the School of Environmental Studies
Creating positive change?
We dig deep into environmental problems from three distinct perspectives: ethnoecology, ecological restoration and political ecology. Learn how to create positive change through our integrated undergraduate (double major, and minor), graduate (MA/MSc/PhD Interdisciplinary), co-op and professional programs.
Knowledge, commitment, and action
Learn through our potent mix of hands-on practice, big picture ideas, creativity and critical analysis. Almost every course has a field component, and some are entirely field-based.
Check out the award-winning Restoration of Natural Systems Program or explore the Redfish School of Change to learn more about field opportunities.
Research projects
Bold interdisciplinary research projects explore seafood ecology, politics of environmental campaigns on the Central Coast, traditional systems of land and resource management, ecological restoration and climate change (and many others).
